The Renter’s Last Rites

In the event you rent in Florida, renters insurance is pretty important. There are also other renting issues which are important too – and you don’t want to get them wrong, or it could lead to your landlord reading you the renter’s last rights as you move out!

Tenants generally organize their own Internet connection for their new apartment. These days there is some pretty exciting technology available to connect you to the world-wide-web: cable, telephone lines and even lasers! However, before your proposed services provider goes drilling holes in walls to lay cable connections, check with your landlord that it’s okay.

 Some landlords will be fine with it – for them it means they don’t have to organize future connections, or it may be a bonus for them when they decide they want to re-occupy the property in future years. However, some landlords won’t want you – or any IT company – drilling holes in their walls. 

Some apartments have roof access – the full sun is often great for growing a few vegies and herbs, but check with your landlord if this is okay – your roof may not have enough load-bearing capacity, or pooling water may cause water damage in ceilings.
