Florida RV Insurance
To be able to follow the open road and
take all the amenities of home along is the dream of many. Having
the same protection and peace of mind you would have at home in the
event of some unforeseen event is another important part of that
dream. Do not be misled into thinking that you can get this coverage
through you car insurance company or you may find that at claim time
you will be very disappointed.
Most auto insurance will not cover your personal belongings, and
then there are attachments such as antennas and grills which need to
be considered. Taking the time to consult with one of our friendly
HIG Insurance agents may make more sense than you know. Our
knowledgeable staff can show you all the important bases that need
to be covered since they have seen some of the mistakes that others
have made. It’s hard to think of all the options if you are not in
the business. Who want to spend all their time doing research when
you could be out exploring all the places to which your RV can take
you? Let us help you with that process.
Some of the coverage your Florida RV policy should provide includes:
-
Comprehensive Coverage -
protection from just any direct, sudden, and accidental loss,
including: collision, fire, smoke, flood, landslide, hail,
windstorm, animals, vandalism, low branches or overhangs, theft and
lightning.
-
Coverage for Attached Accessories
- these include awnings, satellite dishes and TV antennas.
Then there are coverage options that
you can use to customize your policy. These may be subject to
company approval or may not be available in all states. The most
popular coverage options are:
-
Total Loss Replacement Coverage
- this protects your motor home from the effects of depreciation. If
your new-model motor home is destroyed within its first five years,
you will be able to replace it with a brand new one of similar kind
and quality – no matter what it costs. In years six through ten, you
may get up to what you paid for it originally toward the purchase of
another motor home.
This option can save you literally
thousands of dollars when compared to typical auto policies, which
pay only the Actual Cash Value of your motor home at the time it’s
destroyed. Especially if you took good care of your RV this may not
be enough to replace it with something in even close condition.
-
Emergency Expenses Coverage -
will pay for lodging or a travel home if your unit is damaged or
destroyed by a covered loss more than 50 miles from home.
-
Campsite/Vacation Liability
Coverage - will provide liability coverage when you are parked,
and using your motor home as a residence.
-
Replacement Cost Coverage –
will replace personal belongings that may be destroyed or stolen.
-
Towing and Roadside Assistance
- so you don’t have to buy a separate towing plan. Towing, jump
starts, roadside service, flat tire changes, fuel delivery, and
locksmith services can be accessed with just a phone call.
-
Full-Timer Coverage - will
provide liability protection very similar to a Florida homeowner’s
insurance policy. While an auto policy will only provide liability
protection when you are using your motor home as a vehicle, a
Full-Timer policy covers you when you are parked and using your RV
as a residence.
